Jennifer Seibel Newsom
Jennifer Siebel Newsom graduated with honors from both Stanford University and Stanford Business School. She worked in Africa, Latin America, and Europe on assignments with Conservation International, a global environmental organization, where her primary focus was providing micro-enterprise opportunities to women. She has also performed in numerous films and TV shows (such as In the Valley of Elah, Rent, Something’s Gotta Give, The Nanny Express, Trauma, Life, Mad Men, and Numb3rs). Jennifer formed Girls’ Club Entertainment, LLC as an umbrella entertainment company to develop and produce independent films with strong social, political, and cultural significance, focused primarily on empowering women. She is currently writing, directing and producing the documentary film Miss Representation. Jennifer sits on the Board of Directors for the International Museum of Women while fulfilling her many duties as First Lady of San Francisco.
Kristi Yamaguchi
Athlete, artist, wife, mother, philanthropist—in each of these things Kristi Yamaguchi embodies the word champion. Her motto is "Always Dream," and Kristi’s accomplishments prove that dreams can come true with hard work and dedication. Throughout her career, Kristi has received numerous awards and accolades. In 1996 she was named Skater of the Year by American Skating World magazine. She was named to the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 1998 and the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 1999. On Dec. 8, 2005, she was inducted into the USOC Olympic Hall of Fame. In February 2008, Kristi received the prestigious Thurman Munson Award, acknowledging excellence in competition and philanthropic work within the community. One of her lasting legacies will be her Always Dream Foundation, founded in 1996. The foundation has been an active fundraiser and supporter of children’s charities in the San Francisco Bay Area, including annual Christmas toy drives. The Foundation’s most recent, and ambitious, accomplishment is the January 2010 completion of Always Dream Play Park.
Devanshi Patel
Devanshi Patel currently a Senior at Accel Middle College in San Jose, CA and scheduled to attend Stanford University as an Undergraduate in Fall 2010 to study International Relations/ International Business as well as Feminist Studies. Devanshi is heavily involved with YMCA Youth and Government Model Legislature (Statewide Student Government), specifically focusing on women in these fields.
