The First Lady's Young Women's Summit

The Professional BusinessWomen of California, in cooperation with Girls For a Change & Respect Rx is pleased to present The First Lady’s Young Women’s Summit, hosted by the First Lady of San Francisco, Jennifer Siebel Newsom. This special program will be held in conjunction with the PBWC 21st Annual Conference on May 11th at the Moscone Center, and is designed to aid high schools and young women by providing valuable instruction and mentoring that help them navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead, and inspire them to reach their full potential.
Since its inception thirteen years ago, the “Conference within a Conference” has benefited more than 5,000 young women from high schools throughout Northern California. And this year, with the support of the First Lady, and our program partners, we are excited to expand not only the content, but also the audience. During adolescence, young women are presented with gender biases and stereotypes that sometimes cause them to question their own abilities and steer them away from pursuing certain careers and leadership positions. We have a responsibility to encourage young women to have confidence in their abilities, and explore a wide variety of fields.
The First Lady’s Young Women’s Summit will help expose and breakdown gender stereotypes, build self-esteem and empowerment, explore career options, teach valuable communication skills, expose them to positive role models, stress the importance of pursuing higher education, and engage them in one-on-one communication with successful women in business.
